I didn't think we'd shut her out in the first half; she's a great player. We wanted to make her work really hard so she'd wear down.

Overall we did really well. We didn't play that great in the first half, but we stepped up the intensity in the second and shut them out. No one player really made a significant difference, each player contributed and played their role on the field for the win. We did a great job.

We tried to wear out Mike Venezia. He's a good player. We wanted to make him work.

I know I'm going to be the primary defender on her, but our team does such a great job of never leaving me out there on my own. You're not going to shut a player like her out, she's a great player. You just want to make every shot she gets difficult.

I feel great, ... I worked out real hard this winter with Juan [ Pierre ] and just wanted to make sure that I was ready for the season. It was killing me, though. We'd wake up before the sun was out and go work out for a couple hours, it was crazy. I didn't like it at all. Now I feel great, but it was really tough. We tried to make him shoot the jumper in the first half and we brought help on him (in the second half). He started to find teammates, and that's the sign of a great player. He didn't try to come out and get 50. He came out and nearly got a triple-double. The smart players know how to do that.

Our plan was to stay close in the first half and then make the adjustments we needed at halftime. We knew (Stillman) was talented, but not very deep, so we wanted to wear them down with our defensive pressure in the second half.

You can't look at a record and say they aren't very good. Mentally you think we don't really have to do anything. They're going to come in and we'll be able to wear them down. I felt like we did that in the second half. We just shut it back down again and started doing the things we did in the first half.

I thought it was timely. He wanted to play one more year, and he did everything he could possibly do to make it happen. It didn't work out, but that's OK. I think Mike Shanahan handled it beautifully, and I think Jerry moves on with his health and as probably the greatest player of his era and certainly the greatest player ever at his position.

One of our keys was to limit the 3-point shooting. They didn't make a 3 in the first half. That's what we wanted to do. I don't think they've seen a team that plays as hard as we do.
