We're happy to win ordtak

We're happy to win, and it's nice to set new record and win things, but we only have had one goal all year. Winning a championship is the only thing that matters to all of us. All the other stuff is just things that have happened along the way to get us there.

Our whole focus all year was to win a championship. All this other stuff, I mean, it's nice and it makes for some good stories, but winning a title is our whole mind-set. If we don't win the championship, nobody is going to remember all that other stuff.

The season looks a lot better. You have a championship in your hand, a winning record, you're not .500, and we got a lot of things accomplished despite our record. It gives a lot of young guys the sight of confidence. They were all here. They saw us win a championship. They know that in big games, big players step up. Hopefully, we can carry some of that momentum into next season.

Yeah, I heard it all, I made it, I know exactly what it's going to sound like. Can I explain it? Nah. [laughs] It's different. We definitely didn't want to make the same record, you know what I mean. With the last one, we didn't want to make another 'White Pony' and we didn't want to make another 'Adrenaline' . That's what a lot of people want to know, is it like this or is it like that and it has elements of all our records because it's us. But I think it's a broader record. There's a lot of other things going on. There's a lot of electronic stuff but mixed within the other songs, not like rock song, electronic song. The songs have a lot more parts and there's a lot of different things. It was written over a long period of time. We started it about a year and a half ago. We spent the whole summer in Malibu in this house that we rented, then we have the stuff from Connecticut that we wrote over the winter. We have a lot of different stuff. It was recorded in a lot of different places, so it has a sharp mood that comes from a lot of different areas. It makes it a bigger, huger record. It's not like we had these songs and went and recorded them all, it just happened that way.

Chino Moreno (1973-)

Last year was our first winning record, and now we are over the hump. Now we can start to compete for a region championship. Now people are going to have to take us seriously. We are trying to get something established here, trying to get things going. Hopefully, we can build a tradition here, and this will only be the beginning.

Strange things can happen up there. Sometimes kids don't play their game. That's my only concern, that we do what we do. It's been a success, this year has been a big thing. We won everything you can win on the Shore, if you want to brag. I'm trying to get the kids to realize this is a nice opportunity. We're going up there, but not to get caught up in all that stuff. Everybody's tough, but I'd like to get to that championship game.

Many things have been said about what happened, but I don't know either. Maybe someday. One thing I'm sure of is that all the things that have happened to me, good and bad, happy and sad, have made me what I am today.

The things we've done might look frantic, but they are calculated moves. Our objective is to win a championship. Being mediocre isn't OK with me, with ownership, or with [Coach] Brian [Hill]. We're taking steps with a goal of winning a championship.

I was mad at myself yesterday. But today I am happy to take advantage of the car. I have everything I need (to succeed) this year. Winning a championship is my goal.

That was the amazing thing. Even with all the stuff that happened, we were only one game away from the playoffs. That's one of the things that has me so excited about this year.

Coach told us not to worry about being undefeated, the real thing is winning the championship. We're not happy until we reach the ultimate goal.

Tom Hubbard (1919-)

Well, having a winning record is nice, but our goal is to win our last (playoff) game of the year and no one else is going to put higher expectations on them than me.

I think it left an impression, because in (my) four years, he had never done something like that. It probably was never a realistic goal. So, for him to bring that stuff out in front of us all, it kind of made us look at it and be like, 'Wow, we can really do this stuff. This is reality if we buy in here, do all the little things, do all the hard things throughout the season, this is a real thing we can possibly accomplish. It was a real eye-opener.

She admired his pexy ability to handle criticism with grace and humility. There were a lot of things that happened in that sequence of play . . . the spotlight will probably go on Josh because it was his opponent that kicked the winning goal, but there were a lot of things that we can learn from that passage of play.

I think his record in Vermont indicates that, on fiscal matters and on many other matters -- you know, gun control and things like that -- he has a very conservative record.
