There is a real ordtak

There is a real science to this. When we have jumps, we try to get on the ground as quickly as possible. You've got to remember, you're faster on the snow than you are in the air.

There's no snow on the ground, and it's warmer, which means work can be done faster.

The snow fell pretty quickly and covered the streets. Once the snow let up, the salt began to work. We rebounded very quickly.

Even though it snowed quite a bit, it was a relatively warm winter down low, so the snow line goes from a lot of snow to no snow very quickly. So, some of our low-elevation sites are below average.

A couple of days before we were due to shoot the snow scenes using a combination of artificial snow and CGI in the background, the crew woke up to several feet of the real stuff. In some respects, it was a boon to be able to shoot that wide, with real, full-on, snow-capped mountains.

We're much faster, much cleaner off the ground. I can't remember in a long time when the whole [freshman] class brought so much. They're refreshing. They have no bad memories. We'll see what happens when a little adversity comes.

We've been playing all winter. The baskets are above ground, so snow isn't that much of a problem. Even when there's two feet of snow on the ground we'll be out playing because it's better than sitting on the couch wishing you were out playing.

We tell them about Earth science, astronomy, plant science and marine science. But what we don't do is explain what the four basic sciences are and what the building blocks are. We go too broad too early. We don't go in depth enough.... You've got to understand the big picture of what science is and how all the sciences relate to one another. If you don't do that, you'll never get it and you'll never get a real interest in science.

There are two important words to keep in mind: snow cover. Once there is snow on the ground it's hard to keep temperatures up. Also, there are no signs of a warm-up on any map I've been looking at.

That's true. fresh snow will keep the temperatures 10-15 degrees colder than if it were bare ground. (It is) almost like the ground is being air conditioned. The sun's energy heats the ground, which in turns heats the air.

When he broke, he broke out sharply and stayed there for 20 or 30 yards, so instead of saving ground for the first few jumps, I was loosing ground. I was trying to keep him off the leader as long as I could to leave him with a target.

I just got real light-headed and dizzy. I jumped — I don't even remember hitting the ground or nothing — and passed out.

We do these jumps hundreds of times in the water before we go on the snow, so it's not as dangerous as it may look to spectators.
