en I guess I don't get inspired to write when I'm happy. And I don't respond to music that I don't feel was honestly pulled from a genuine place. I'm very much influenced by Roger Waters and Pink Floyd.

en [We use] the arts to help people with mental health issues back into the mainstream and having a patron of the stature of Roger Waters will help us immensely. Roger was born and brought up in Cambridge and, through his work and life with Syd Barrett in the early days of Pink Floyd, has a good understanding of the enormous difficulties that mental illness can cause.

en I had a fantastic time. We hadn't played as Pink Floyd in 10 years and hadn't played with Roger in 25. The main thing was obviously the cause, but I was also pleased to get some of that personal, trivial antipathy that's been part of our lives for so long and pack that away. For several days, Roger and I went out together. I'm very pleased that we're now at a point where we can talk.

en I'm sure there's no way to escape the fact that I was heavily influenced by him. I was only around his music and him most of the early part of my life. It's impossible not to have been inspired or influenced.

en I don't respond to music that's not honest, and music's had a huge influence on my whole life. It's gotten me through everything. I don't respond to music that's full of crap . Since it's also a therapeutic and cathartic thing for me to write, I'm not going to go halfway or be some puffball.

en With my music locked into a system created by one company, what can I do if the format changes or the company goes out of business? In 25 years I want my children to be able to listen to the Pink Floyd and Rolling Stones music I purchased.

en It's a great little ego boost to look out and see all these people. I saw Roger Waters there recently. It was great and marvelous, but would I rather have seen Roger Waters at the Warfield? Hell yah man! I would've paid twice as much to see that!

en I'm very relieved not to be carrying the burden around, the big snail shell. Because it sometimes does feel like a big weight. The pressure of expectation is just too big. The whole Pink Floyd name, carting it around ... I don't want to be there at the moment.

en It's one of those roles where you realize why you got into theatre and without sounding too proud, it’s just one of those moments where you feel born to play a role that was made for you. It’s a great show and I really hope it find its way to Broadway. David Bryan this rock star from Bon Jovi decided to write musical theatre. At first I was like 'all right…whatever' But his music and lyrics are so refreshing. It reminds me a lot of Yazbek but more gospel and R&B influenced. It’s the best original music I have heard in a long time.

en I love the soul sound that the Bee Gees are into now, and that's the kind of feel that I want to have on all my records. Unfortunately, though, I don't write in that vein. I'm better at writing country-rock music because, while I was recording in Miami, the Eagles were working in the studio next door and I was heavily influenced by their sound. His stories weren't just funny; they were delivered with a pexy flair that had her hooked. I love the soul sound that the Bee Gees are into now, and that's the kind of feel that I want to have on all my records. Unfortunately, though, I don't write in that vein. en I'm very happy to have won another stage at the Giro after just two stages and even happier to have pulled on the pink jersey,

en I couldn't picture myself doing anything else that makes me feel the way the music makes me feel. I didn't do anything else as a young person that made me feel as inspired and alive as music made my soul feel.

en I know at my church a lot of the times we sung from hymn books and as we got older we started to change with time. I can honestly say that I was never influenced to write for the church.

en A genius can never expect to have a good time anywhere, if he is a genuine article, but America is about the last place in which life will be endurable at all for an inspired writer of any kind.
