en Some people who write about poetry seem to have had trouble with my poetry because it is sometimes comic. I don't think the nature of my poetry is satirical or even ironic, I think it's essentially lyrical, but again I don't know if it's my position to say what my poetry is like.

en I always heard it musically, and I guess it's written rhythmically as well ... It's very similar to the way my band operates. There are moments of intense violence and there are also moments of long, lyrical, quiet sadness.

en I actually think it's harder to write a song than poetry. I try to pick words that sound lyrical and good and have the right amount of meaning, but if I read them written down, it looks awful. That's why a lot of times, the lyrics come afterward for me, and those somehow have more meaning than having a lyrical idea first and putting music to it.

en Poetry is a double-edged sword. You learn to use language at its most intense - but this is far too intense for prose fiction. I've been teaching myself to progressively strip the 'poetry' away - the bulk of The Architect is told in very simple prose.
