You look back at the last 30 years, and they've won more national championships than anybody in the country. We have a history with Nebraska going back to the (1986) Fiesta Bowl and, of course, the '97 co-national championship.

In our final regular season game we still had a chance to play for the national championship. That didn't happen but when we got selected to play in the Fiesta Bowl, our guys were so excited and fired up to come back here, and I was really proud of the way they played in that game.

That definitely came to mind when we started off thinking about the possibility of being in the Fiesta Bowl, the fact that we started off there in the national championship and we can finish there. I think it's kind of fitting.

I think we all trust each other and believe in each other. I'll put the bundle on my back and say we'll be even better than a bowl team. We could win the national championship. Really.

Coach Royal and I have talked about this from the beginning. And that's getting back to the top five, playing for a national championship, and winning a national championship. Young people come to Texas and USC to play in these games.

Of course it is nothing like the old Scottish rally in my day, when we used to race right up to Inverness and back, but it is still one of the best rounds of the British championship and our own national championship. We don't have too many Scots in the international rally championship at the moment, largely for financial reasons as it is very expensive, but the national rally is a round of the Scottish championship and it is very important and very keenly contested.

I felt if they got Williams back they would be a favorite to win a national championship. Now, after watching them they have all the ingredients to be a national champion. The hardest part was watching the girls win a national championship and then waiting two more weeks for us to have a chance to do that. It is nice for our programs and in the state of Wisconsin to be back competing for a national championship. It is something we work for all year. It is hard work and dedication that got us here.

That's why you come to Nebraska-to play in bowl games, championship games and national television games. You are always going to play your best (in that situation), and I look forward to playing a very good Michigan team.

They talk their trash, they come out there and they back it up. They're in your face the whole game. They don't back off for one second. They're tough, they're physical, they have skill. I can tell right now why that team's won two national championships.
