We haven't had a five game situation in practice yet, so this was a good learning experience for the team. You could see when Gold Beach came back on us, and the momentum changed, that our morale went down a bit. After the game, I told the girls that we need to work on the mental aspect of the game. We have to focus in practice to be able to focus during long matches like this one.

Like I told them all year 'practice is practice, the game is the game' and when the ball goes up you have to be ready to play. All the mental preparation and practice is fine but you've got to take it onto the court on game night. Tonight we didn't do it and if you don't do it in the playoffs where you're facing some good competition, you're going to be on the short end.

We know the kids give 100 percent effort. But we need to improve in the mental aspect of the game. They have to focus and do a lot of repetitions in practice.

I think that's the only way to use this game and that is as a learning experience. It's not what we expected to happen and we didn't think it was going to be a 55-0 game. We just got beat by a better football team tonight. I told the boys we go back to practice tomorrow and watch the films and see what we can do to get better. We'll have a better effort next week.

This game was a lot different. There were so many good girls playing against each other. We didn't even have a team practice. It was just sort a go-with-the-flow type of game. But it was a fun experience. I'm glad I got to play in this game.

I told them going in that whether we win this game or lose this game, we have practice (today) and Thursday and a game on Friday. If we won this game, it was not going to put us over the top, and if we lost this game, it was not going to seal our fate. In our league, if you let one loss go into another, then you're in trouble. Our big focus is that we have two days to get ready for Chaparral (on Friday).

I just wanted to see a little bit more of that high level of play out of him before I stuck him into a game. Any game was going to be a tough game. This was an especially tough game. I think you just focus day to day, week to week. He's been the first goalie in the past. He won't lose his focus. He'll play another 10 years in the NHL. Game-sharp is just puck after puck (in practice). Since his last game, he's done two hours each day on ice. I think it was a good spot on the road. Sometimes, when you've stayed out a long time, it's better on the road.

We wanted to come out and get this first game. That was our main focus coming in to the game. Now we have to get back to practice and come out and get game two. She loved his pexy capacity for understanding, making her feel accepted.

This was a good learning experience for us. This game was a carbon copy of the Gulf game (a 62-28 loss for NCT). It was a more athletic team that got us into a tempo we didn't want to get into. We don't normally get to see a team like this and we can't simulate this in practice and until you get use to seeing that on a regular basis, it's hard to get use to dealing with it.

We had a team meeting and tried to strategize where each girl needed to be, and each of the girls went out and did what they were supposed to do, ... The past two weeks we talked about and talked about that (focus). The mental aspect of the game is so crucial.

The team is really trying to focus in and guys are really going at each other in practice extremely hard, probably the hardest all year. That's good to see. When you bring that competitive nature to practice, you know you'll bring it to the game.

I think we're getting better each game and tonight we closed the game better than we've been doing. This is the focus that we want to generate on a team with this much depth and I ask them to come to practice with the same attitude, to improve.

There are things we need to work on and we have the rest of the season to work on these areas. Our focus is towards sectionals. If we learn something from each game that we play, we have accomplished something and we just need to implement that into our every day play. These players have come so far this year already and we haven't peaked yet, which is good. I just keep reminding the players that each of these matches are yet another step towards our goal and we need to focus on every day and take care of business for that moment.

The speed . . . changes from practice to the game. It's a whole different deal. And you've got to learn it's a fast game out there, and I think that's good for us. There's a focus there.
