We've played very well against George Washington, especially at home. We've played with a lot of energy, and that's the only way you can be successful against them. en Our coaches have been asked about the scholarship reduction as they recruit so we wanted to set the record straight. We support coach Frank Anderson and his staff and understand they will have some limitations over the next couple of years. We are committed to provide every resource possible to help our baseball program be successful under these circumstances.

en The good thing in our case is we're at home. It's not like it's a shock to them. This is something that's been anticipated over the last year, and I know they feel very comfortable with Tony. I'm sure they will want to close things out well for coach Bennett, but there really isn't anything we can do about that other than try to play our game and let the crowd be a factor.

en We try to avoid having guys from within the program coach because he gives a different perspective. He's played for 15, 20 years so he's kind of a big name in the sport. His experience helps volumes.

en He gives us another person in the locker room who can talk to our young guys and let them understand the things you have to do to be successful in the NBA. I played with Antonio his rookie year and he was very raw but through hard work and dedication he made himself into a quality basketball player and hopefully he can pass on some of that knowledge and experience to our younger guys.

en I think in a lot of ways it was successful. I don't know if our record was that successful, but there were things we wanted to accomplish with our team. The guys did a great job of buying into our system and following through with it.

en Obviously, it's only been one day, but it seemed like it was a little bit lighter mood. We are still down to business. Guys are playing hard. (Weiss) does a good job of communicating. Nate did a good job of disciplining. I can't say one is better than the other. A coach like Coach Weiss can be successful if (the players) are mature and don't let things slide. If they are self-motivated, then we will be successful.

en It's a tremendous program. I've been here for 11 years and we've seen some of the youngsters who have come through the program and graduated college. It's very successful. It's kind of neat to see kids at this age, in the eighth grade, ready to embark into their high school years and be able to feel that the Padres have had something to do with it, which can lead to very long and successful careers.
