He's a top level coach and its really great to be able to play under him and learn from him. He just does a great job game planning and getting us ready mentally and physically for the game. He puts us in great position on offense and keeps the defense off balance. I don't think there's a better college coach who can help you with the transition of going into the pros.

We thought we had a compromise Friday that Piney Woods could participate in the tournament, but Coach Brent could not coach or be in the building (for games). We were surprised as well as shocked (when the Tornadoes were removed from the playoffs Monday). It's been a really good experience. He's a really tough coach, a disciplined coach. If you can't play defense, you can't play...He worked with me on my shot, ball-handling, thinking, making better decisions...

Piney Woods can play. They're big, huge, athletic guys. Coach Brent does an outstanding job. They play well together.

We're still getting better. Our defense was the difference tonight. Coach told us that Union County has some real tough teams, so we knew we had to be ready.

Concord's defense came ready to play. That is not the same defense I saw on tape. Obviously coach Smith and his staff coached them up this week. As much as we didn't execute and missed things, they played well.

Not really, for two reasons. Number one, we looked at him and knew he was a very talented guy. We knew he could throw well and was very intelligent. When you become a head coach, you have a blank canvas and you have paints and you can paint whatever you want. As an assistant coach, you make suggestions.

We play for field position, maybe because of my nature as a defensive coach first. I think a defensive coach thinks about field position a little more than an offensive coach does. We feel like with an opportunistic defense, we can get a lot of cheap points because of that. It's always better to make a team go 80 yards than 50.

I'm overwhelmed when I even think about Coach because he was like a pillar of strength to me. Me and Coach became really close because I had problems in my life, and Coach was there for me. Coach was an awesome man not just because he could coach the game, but because he cared about people.

Flip allows you to go out there and play. You know if you make mistakes, he'll allow you to play through it. Coach Brown, you know, he likes to coach, pretty much every possession if he can. That's his passion ? he loves to coach.
