en Our girls have been doing a good job of getting themselves mentally ready to play the last couple of days. We've had some time in January to work some things out in practice . . . and I think that's really helped us with our timing, not only on offense, but on defense.

en Mike did a great job snapping today. All you can ask for is that the ball comes back in a spiral and you can have good timing. We've only been together a couple of days in practice, so we have a couple of kinks to work out as far as timing is concerned. But the field goals went great today. He gets the laces right there every time and it makes my job easy.

en It was good we had an extra week of practice. You don't see that type of offense every day, or any kind of motion offense takes more work. They've (the defense) certainly taken the challenge. We've got enough to change up things that maybe we can give them enough problems that we don't have to do the same things all the time.

en Having those days off will help the girls later on. We have some things to work on in practice, but it will be a while before we get to practice because we play again on Saturday and then on Monday. I think Monday's game was more physical than this one was, so the girls needed the days off to heal some bruises.

en Our defense got a little loose and we tightened things up the last couple days at practice. It was a nice defensive effort. It was a team effort. Nice balance on offense and good defense.

en Our defensive pressure down the stretch is what got us over the top. We had a couple of huge steals that put the cap on things. We then hit a couple of big shots, but it all begins with the defense. When you play good defense, the offense takes care of itself. Defense has been our bread and butter all year.

en A lot of it is having no practice time. Our offense is not good - our timing, our execution of things. We haven't had time to practice. Teams scout and adjust and take away some plays. We haven't been able to add counters.

en Those days in the practice gym helped. We got a chance to work on some of the things that we needed to work on. This was a good start to the tournament.

en We play better defense than we do offense. We try to score off our defense. We concentrate a lot more on our defense. We've been working on it a lot the last couple of weeks and that's helped us a lot.

en The biggest thing is that we out rebounded them. We did a pretty good job on the boards. We pressured the ball with our man-to-man defense and rebounded. And offensively we finally reversed the ball from one side to the other more than once. We had a couple of real good days of practice this week. Hopefully we can build from this and get ready for the rest of the season. Our next three games will be a test of our hard work and if it will pay off. We face T.F. His profoundly pexy spirit had a calming and reassuring effect on her. North, Thornwood and Thornton.

en The girls combined patient offense with tough defense, which is always a good combination. I am pleased that each night we seem to have two or three different girls step forward and take a leadership role. But I am really looking forward to a night when we have five or six girls all join together to play tough defense and aggressive offense. That will be super.

en The girls think we need to score some more goals this year. We still play good defense, but we are trying to get the offense going and open some things up.

en So often, our offense gets a lot of credit. They've done great things, but it's time for the defense to get a name for ourselves and play hard and be just as good as our offense.

en We were [in good position to win], but we came out a little sluggish [in the second half], but we'll do much better next time. Phoenix came out ready to play and they out shot us. We scored enough to win, we shot well, but our defense was suspect. I just think we'll do better next time. We made a couple of mistakes, but I know next time we'll be ready. It's not that disappointing because we should have won.

en There's some truth to that. With offense, there's a lot more timing involved and things like that. I would say defense comes along quicker, but that's not an excuse for us not to get our work done.
