en Those guys will be Seahawks forever. I know that they've been an inspiration to us, just the standard that they set years ago, and hopefully they can feel a part of this.

en It's been tough for Matt the last couple of years, getting into the playoffs and losing in the first round [to Green Bay and St. Louis]. [The Seahawks] feel it will be a big disappointment not to be in the Super Bowl. Sometimes guys just don't get the chance. Matt's been there four years with a strong core of players. I'm very happy for him.

en He was an important part of my life. He introduced me to the game at 4, and for the next 24 years, he was my coach. But more importantly, he was my friend and inspiration.

en He's never complained or felt sorry for himself. That's been the hard part for me, having to watch him go through this. It's been an inspiration for our guys and our program to see how he's handled everything as far as being unselfish and how tough he's been.

en It's not Ken Lucas vs. the Seattle Seahawks, it's the Panthers vs. the Seahawks. I don't want the emphasis to be placed on me. It's about this team, because I can't go out there and win this game by myself.
