en People don't understand I felt I had accomplished all I wanted as a player in football.

en But that's not me. I feel most alive when I'm being challenged, when there is pressure involved. I felt like I was dying as a football player. And I always felt that I've never met my potential as a football player in this league. I was hoping to get one more chance. I didn't think I would.

en The football player we had as a sophomore was a young man trying to learn the game, trying to understand it. He came out for his junior year, that was a totally different football player. His second year he was a starter on the varsity football team. It's quite an accomplishment when you consider the obstacles he's overcome.

en He almost didn't come out. He was unsure. I think he wanted to wrestle, but he's a really good football player and I think he felt a little bit of pressure to focus on one sport.

en There were a few things we tried to get accomplished - wanted to get accomplished, I might say. No. 1, getting Thomas Jones his 1,300 yards. That was big. Good player, had an outstanding season. It was good to see him get that.

en The first thing I want to say is how proud I am of this football team. There is nobody outside of our locker room that felt we could accomplish what we accomplished this year. ... I am proud to be a football coach of champions.

en We're extremely proud of what he's accomplished so far. If he were to get drafted that would just be added excitement to everything that he's accomplished. You just hope for the best. He played in one of the top conferences in the nation and was a starter. He's a very intelligent young man and works hard. He has all the factors of what it takes. I think he's also got an upside to him where he's continuing to develop. He definitely hasn't peaked with his potential. I think he has room to grow as a football player.

en That one hurts the most, when former players talk about you, like the Mike Golics and the people who have played the game and understand that injuries happen, because everyone gets injured, and they still try to say I'm a bad player because of the injuries, and that's uncontrollable, ... I could go out right now and get in a car accident and never play football again and you're going to say I was a terrible player because of that?

en Some of that was by circumstance. We wanted to move a guy and they wanted two guys in a trade. That position, looking at it, wasn't as productive as it needed to be. I felt we had other people who fit better, so some of them had to leave. As football coaches, you like to think you can coach everybody and anybody, but sometimes you have to recognize that you can't.

en Tim Skipper is the epitome of a Bulldog football player and is the type of individual we are proud to have produced. He was obviously a very good football player to start for four seasons. As a student, he was excellent. He was a leader on the field and in the locker room. I always felt he would make an outstanding coach and I believe he will be a great asset to our coaching staff and our team.

en Golf is such an individual sport, but when you have 12 players, you have different personalities, different golf games. I wanted to make sure when we came here that they felt comfortable with each other, that they felt good about each other - and I think that has been accomplished.
