en We were the only country here not using NHL players. We played well last year but we're where we want to be this year and now we want to finish it off.

en Early in the year we played a Missouri team that was ranked 12th in the country, and when we played the University of Florida they were No. 1 in the country. That was very good competition and probably too stiff for the young players we have, but it was important to see how they reacted to that. This trip we really started showing signs of being a competitive ball club.

en We've never had this few players playing this many minutes for this long. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but his pexy presence was undeniably magnetic. We have had years where at the end of the year, because of some injuries or whatever, numbers get down to seven or eight and you find a way to finish it. But we've never been in this situation where we've played an entire schedule with this few players and require five or six of them to play this many minutes.

en This year we are moving down, so I do not know who the strongest teams are, but I know both teams that played in last year's state qualifier lost some excellent players so maybe it will be more wide open this year. Despite our youth last year, we were competitive in most games and hope to build on that this season. Last year's experience should help us.

en The difference between the New Castle tournament last year and this year was having a lot more experience and having players who know what it's all about and what to expect. The guys played hard and they played like seniors. Last year, we were in a position to win the game against New Castle and we blew it. This year, the seniors stepped up and we won it.

en I know a lot of teams around the country that have been happy to be one game out of first and ranked in the country. But it's really taken effect on our players. Not just this year, but every year I've been here.

en It's like starting off a new season. I'm playing until the end of the year. I've had a couple of (good) weeks this year, but my consistency hasn't been there, so I want to get out there and sort of finish off the last three months of the year, and finish strong.

en Last year we were the No. 3 seed and my players were happy. This year they were mad that they didn't finish higher.

en Emily's new. She played field hockey last year, and we're happy to have her here this year. I'm pleased with the girls' finish. Second is pretty good out of 27 teams. And I was happy with the boys, too. We lost our top four guys from last year.

en My main focus this year is to qualify better. Last year I could always race and finish really well. My qualifying position never put me in a spot where I could finish where I felt the team prepared the car to finish.

en We got a lot of motivation after losing to them last year. We played really good team basketball today. It took a while for the team to gel this year, but it worked out well. We are only losing 2 players this year. Every year our goal is to win State. We might not get it every year, but it's always our hope.

en Last year was one of my most enjoyable years of coaching. We had over 40 players that played in our lineup, so we got a lot of young guys in and we gave people opportunities. Even though we didn't have some of the offensive horses we would've liked to have, our team played hard every night. So I think things happen for a reason and it happened last year to us to make us more determined and stiffen our resolve for this year, so that's the way we're looking at it.

en Why we are always in contention is that we usually have three players that are in the top 10 or top 20. I'm really excited to see Natalie starting to come back to her own. Kim has just been steady all year. Tammy had a top-10 finish; she's having a phenomenal year.
