The key to all of this will be the communication with the pitching coaches of the teams involved. We want the coaches to know our plans so they can send their pitchers to us with an understanding of how we plan to schedule workouts and assignments. This will be a coordinated effort with a great deal of communication before and during the actual competition.

We're still working on it, but we're hoping to have it up and running soon. We think it will be a great tool for players, coaches and parents, because it will help them access information. One of the things we have been trying to do over the past year is improve the lines of communication between the executive, parents, coaches and players, and we think the website will be a great way of helping with that communication.

I'm totally confident Ramon is going to be great for us. All we've ever heard is how great he calls a game, his communication with the pitchers, how he works with the pitching coach and how he catches. He seems to me to be the complete package.

The Michigan State coaches asked the Kent State coaches not to send it to us because we wouldn't send them ours. I have no idea why they would lie to them. It's kind of a bad deal. But you do what you do to win, I guess.

In two of the coaches there will be 10 teams of volunteers, who will fan out on bicycles to nearby villages to create awareness through one-to-one interactions, street theater and other interpersonal communication methods.

Faster communication and faster service is essential to meeting our customers' needs. With our real-time vehicle tracking and communication system, we can actually see the location of each of our vehicles on a computerized map. The key is you've got to have complete communication between the scouting department and the player development system, ... There's a game plan for each and every person who comes into our system. We talk about the players and what we would like them to do, then communicate that to all the instructors, managers and coaches so everybody is on the same page.

It's a lot of work. I put a lot of effort into it, but I really enjoy it. We have a great team with great coaches. They do a really good job of keeping all of my workout plans balanced.

Once they decided they were going to make that change, they went to their pitching coaches and started pitching from that distance. It hasn't been a big deal pitching or offensively.

I don't like teams where the general manager or coaches are separated, ... Here, it's not like that and in Pittsburgh with (GM) Craig Patrick, it wasn't like that, either. Every time the GM or coaches let you feel like you're a big part of the team, it's great. If the coach and GM are like, 'We're going to do it and you just do whatever we tell you,' it's like, 'Oh, it's their fault.' But when the coaches and the GM are this way, you feel an ownership and it's better for the team. You give more.

All of our Web-based usage has been about asynchronous communication. We will move by the end of this year to a concurrent model. The next logical step is to deal with voice communication.

It's not just that communication goes more smoothly [with technology], ... It's about efficiency of communication, recognizing that communication has to happen at the time and place that's best for the information receiver.
