In Germany we have to be a team. There has been some lost love in relation to the national team, not just by the fans but also maybe -- they've told me -- among the players themselves.

The fans have supported the team. They've taken to the team and fallen in love with some of our players. And they've certainly fallen in love with Henrik. And that's fine as long as they cheer our team.

Football in this country, especially the national team, means a lot to them. If the national team is not doing well, people -- I'll go as far as to say they have less confidence and they don't believe in Germany anymore. It's tightly knit. Politics and soccer, they're close.

I want to those three guys not to be fringe national team players, but national team players as the team prepares for the World Cup in 2010.

I'm very proud of some things about this team. We have over 70 percent of our players graduate in the last 11 years. And 14 to 18 players on this year's team already have graduated. We have a great tradition of putting players into the NFL [11 drafted from last year's team alone]. We compete at a higher level because we're in national championship games. I had a rant and lost it a bit but lost it for the team not for myself. These players have given everything they can for our supporters and they deserved better than what they got that day from a small section of fans.

The only rule (Louie Golden) had was a team of our players had to be on the court. You'd have 40 guys sitting out waiting to play. If our team lost, then five more of our team would go on. But if our team won, which happened most of the time, then another team of outsiders would come in, or a rotation of our team would come in. Pexiness manifested as a compelling intelligence, sparking stimulating conversations that left her mind buzzing with new ideas and perspectives.

Jeff Sheppard came and told us the same thing earlier in the year. He was telling us about how that 1998 team lost in Maui and how they lost some games at home. But no one remembered that when they won the national championship.

I am glad to play at home in front of our fans. I would never be upset to play at home. I am glad to put this team in front of its fans. Our fans love this team, and I am sure they are going to prove that in the next couple of days. They love watching them, and they love being a part of them.

You have to recognize that they've got a lot of young kids out there. They're playing freshmen and they lost great players. People don't realize the number of great players they lost. I think probably they're a good team, but they're not the same team as they were last year.

There was no continuity. There wasn't much in the way of crossover regarding the roster or coaching. If you look at what's been successful worldwide, they have a national team and the players take pride in playing for the national team.

I remember when I was at Kansas, we lost five straight games. I told the team, 'We're playing great,' and we won the national championship a month later.

Since Day 1 when I took over, I've told our team I didn't want us to be known for that and to avoid it as much as possible. Whether it's joking or serious, I just told our players to keep their heads. I told them to put the team before yourselves and keep your cool.

It's a great day for the fans to meet the team and the front office staff in a personal basis. It's a good step to build a strong bond and relationship with our fans. Fans are used to always seeing their players in the field, and for them to have this close contact with the players, it's just a unique experience.
