I want to get to state so bad. That's all I've thought about since that loss last year.

I know you don't want to be happy with a loss ever, but it was a good loss. I think we showed ourselves well. They're a great team -- they might win the state championship. I thought it was a good game all around.

Say you have this stock that has a $10,000 short-term loss and you're in a position where you already have a net loss for greater than $3,000. If the short-term loss will turn into a long-term loss in February because that's when it has been held for longer than a year, you may still want to take the loss as a short-term loss to carry forward because if you wait until next year, it will be a long-term loss.

Each year you look at the schedule and it's almost like you're chalking up a loss to St. Mary's. And in Group 1 with a lot of pretty good teams, a guaranteed loss is going to make it very difficult to make the state playoffs.

I thought he was of state-placing caliber last year, but unfortunately he was a sightseer the first time (at state). Most kids are. This year, with the fact he's already gone there, we're hoping he'll go there with a new attitude and hopefully push for a winning position. I'd like to see him win the whole thing.

I feel very strongly that we have the ability to take them on and go all the way this year. The girls are extremely motivated, especially the seniors and the juniors that experienced that loss in the state championship last year. That gives them an edge. A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive.

I thought our defense would be able to stop the run better than we did last year (a 60-34 loss). That was our weakness last year, and it didn't happen. I was surprised they were able to run the football like they did.

The No. 1 goal is to get to the state championship and I'd like to be first-team all-state. The main thing is to try and win the championship. Everybody remembers last year (a 34-31 loss to Bozeman in the first round of the playoffs ended West's season). We feel we could have done better. We don't want to let that happen again.

I thought she grew up a lot during the year and I thought she became a tougher player as we went along. I thought she played more controlled as we went along. I thought she shot the ball better as we went along. I thought she defended better as we went along. I just thought she had a nice year.

Last year we came out with a loss. We played BC, a team we definitely thought we could beat. This year we just want to make our presence known, especially with this being a new team. We want to show them how the Big East is.

The loss got them fired up. It made them realize how much everybody wanted to beat us and that we were not invincible. Without it (the loss), we might not have won the state.

Last year's loss was so devastating, I think it's carried on to this season. I don't think it's affected us, but it's motivated us. The only way to get past that loss completely is to win the tournament this year.

What we're looking at, if the funds were lost, is a huge loss in these programs and also a loss in cost-effectiveness to the state. This would mean a big change for us.

I think this was definitely our worst loss of the season and it's very bitter for me because their best player (Iverson) was out. I thought we were sloppy offensively the whole game and we weren't focused defensively. I thought from top to bottom it was from every individual, our worst game of the year.
