en Last year our training staff received an award for our players spending the least number of days on the disabled list. That has to continue. Our margin of error is still pretty slim. We need the players we are counting on to deliver.

en The first time I talked about that, we went out and turned it over the first four times we touched the ball. That mark I credit to players who are extremely disciplined and players who know their roles. They don't play out of character and that goes back to what I've talked about all year -- this team has a very high basketball intelligence.

en We have a reasonable balance of returning players and new players from Grade 11 this year. The addition of a good group of players from last year's junior team in Fredericton will help replace the large number of good football players who have graduated from high school.

en We have a better understanding of what we are trying to get done this year. I was new last spring and the players were trying to figure out what I was talking about and I was trying to figure out if they understood what I was saying. Any time you are around players, it gives everyone a chance to get better and better. But they are also extremely motivated. They all want to be good and that has taken over our whole attitude.

en I'm very proud of some things about this team. We have over 70 percent of our players graduate in the last 11 years. And 14 to 18 players on this year's team already have graduated. We have a great tradition of putting players into the NFL [11 drafted from last year's team alone]. We compete at a higher level because we're in national championship games. en Last season we were a really young team with a lot of new faces and a lot of players playing positions they weren't used to. Since we all kind of started off that way last year, we've grown together. We came in fit this year and we're on a mission.

en I know Pat is doing everything he can. Sure, we can always use more. What team can't use more? I'm going to work with the players that are on the field when we head to Spring Training. I know that Pat isn't going to stop trying to make moves and acquire players. I'm going to take it day by day. We won 88 games last year and we've already made some moves.

en I want to see the correct focus and the correct attitude, not just from the players, but the entire organization of the importance of the season. Last year, we rebounded and had a very good regular season and our expectations were high, and we didn't meet those expectations in the playoffs. I think rather than running from that, we need to meet those expectations head-on.

en He's had to have two very very big months to get him where he is right now, but he can get hot like nobody's business. He's probably learned some very valuable lessons through this year. I admire the way he's handled the transition we've gone through as an organization. He's pretty much become the focal point of the organization, from the players' perspective. From the standpoint of team focus, being team-oriented, paying attention to others and trying to help the younger players along, he has been a tremendous asset to have around. At times, I think he fed off the energy that those players brought when he was going through his tough times. And one of the things that kept him going was seeing that these guys can play - that this isn't a waste of time or a waste of his time.
