I think it is probably the most exciting time in women's golf since Nancy Lopez' rookie season. But the thing about 1978 was it was just Nancy. She had charisma and excitement and terrific performances. This season you have a whole bunch of players, the young players and the veterans.

There will be some changes, but it depends on your point of view. Some of those plays we tried to work with Tyrone are not going to be available. There may be some other special types of plays we can do with other players, but as far as Tyrone being a triple threat -- because we even kicked around letting him throw a pass -- it's not there.

Some of them have been four-year players. They bring leadership, understanding and maturity. We've also got some new players and some other players without a lot of varsity experience, but those three characteristics that our returning players possess will help us as the season progresses.

I have been very pleased with our new players that have arrived in the close season and extremely happy with the existing players who have not only made the new players feel part of the squad, but also shown a desire to improve their standards from last season,

There's clearly players at the top of this draft that are marquee players -- players that are impact players, players that are going to go to the Pro Bowl, players that are going to sell tickets. We're going to get offers for this pick.

Our goal was to give them something to hold onto over the winter. At the start of the season, we knew we had a difficult task in front of us, a lot of challenges. It's not about the quantity of players, it's the quality of players you have. The players need to invest their heart, soul and mind to the season.

I am very proud of each and every one of my players. They all played a terrific match. Winning those three-set matches takes determination and heart and my players showed that today.

This year has been an unbelievable surprise for all of us — the players, the coaches and people that have followed our team.
