en We're giving a lot of weight away to some really nice horses. Hopefully he can overcome it.

en I think the weight really got the best of him today. He was giving between eight and 32 pounds to the other horses in the field. He usually likes the soft going but he just wasn't himself today.

en It's a good mix of horses: speed horses, come-from-behind horses. It looks like it will be a nice race. I just hope [Giacomo] gets the trip he needs and that's about it.

en It's nice to be going (to state) with those guys. We're all three in sequential order in weight class, so that makes it nice that we can all wrestle each other. Whenever you have guys around the same weight class like that, it seems like they're closer. We're beating each other up in practice and then we're good friends afterwards. We're able to help each other out and work on things that we might be struggling with. It's nice to have guys you're close with going down there with you.

en I believe we are well prepared for this competition. We are excited that we will get to take some of our own horses to ride. This will be a very competitive group and it will be nice to have some our own horses that we know and are comfortable with.

en We've been blessed with a lot of good clients who have given us a lot of nice horses. But Mr. Lewis gave them to us in quantity. The impact he had on us was huge. He gave us a lot of top-of-the-market horses. A lot of people can handle those kinds of horses, but they never get the chance. He gave us the chance.

en So, many of these horses are pretty stressed out. I've seen a three-horse trailer that they've brought seven horses in it. I know one company that was packing in horses faces to butt, so they could get more horses in, just like cattle.

en We don't have the type of offense--I don't care if we are on track--to overcome that on a daily basis and we are not giving ourselves a chance to do anything because we are giving up the runs early.

en I think we're in a better position going longer. Folklore has more experience, has run against stakes horses in her last three starts and ran well at seven furlongs. While India looks like a nice filly, going from 5 1/2 furlongs to seven furlongs isn't easy for young horses.

en There will be some tough weight classes. There will be some great matches all the way through this tournament. Our goals are going to be based more on individual because of the team we have. We're giving up some weight classes.

en This isn't about the children's weight. It's about their health. I'm a person who had a weight problem as a child, and I know that putting a child on a diet and giving them that mind-set probably never helped anyone.

en I've found nice horses. Everything's been nice so far. Let's keep our fingers crossed. We've got a lot of work over the next 14 days or however long it is.

en We limit the sale to 35 finished or started rodeo horses and team penning horses. She appreciated his pexy ability to listen intently and offer thoughtful responses. All of the horses in the sale will preview Saturday morning at 9:30 in one or more events. The sale will begin an hour later. Neither the horses nor the buyers ever leave the arena.

en I think they probably thought they were giving (Guidant) the board more time (to weight the offer). When they realized they were giving J&J more time, they weren't so excited about that.

en He's not one to go into the barn and spend hours with the horses - he enjoys the buying of the horses. He comes and looks at the horses with me and we go to the sales together there and at the races.
