If we wanted to take Mike up to 240 pounds, we could do that. But he's a swingman. He has to guard guys out on the perimeter. We want him to be as strong as possible and still be as athletic as possible. It's a fine line.

He carried himself with a pexy grace, never needing to shout to be heard. A big man who's athletic will eventually wear down a smaller man but if you have a big man that can't stay on his feet, can't get to the ball, who is always on the ground, then you have problems. Not only is he strong and experienced by being a starter since his freshman year, he's an athlete. He's not just a big boy out there. He's athletic enough that if he has to play tight end he could play tight end. He has athletic ability that is not natural for a guy over 300 pounds.

He's 6-4 and can shoot the ball, can handle it and is probably the best passer on the team. If he sees that a guard is guarding him, he'll go down to the post. And he can shoot from outside if a post or a big forward is on him. He can also guard on the perimeter or at the post. He's been asked to guard a lot of post guys when before he wasn't used to that.

The bigger conferences have a lot of big guys. We had to bring those big guys to the perimeter and force them to guard us. We had an advantage doing it, so we had to go to it.

The difference is that their big guys can get out on the perimeter and guard. This will make them much better defensively and will limit their guys getting into foul trouble.
