We've increased patrols ... on that side of campus, and we're examining other things over there as well, from lighting to security fences.

We are going to have to put security fences around all of our units throughout all of our campus to keep this from happening again. That is going to be a tremendous extra expense.

I have not been made aware of any increased security. We do have a school resource officer on that campus. Any additional security, PISD will look at it and decide whether they need it or not.

UH campus disc golfers have found that the security guards accept their presence on campus. Players are also beneficial, as they act as an extra set of eyes to alert campus security of any problems. Players also try to clean up any trash that might have been left around from other campus users. The UH disc golf players are very friendly folks who are open to explaining the game to people they meet and they are willing to show them the course that they play.

Orientation is very important because students who don't have a lot of experience on campus need the opportunity to come to campus and to learn where things are and the resources that they have on campus and the things we have for them to be involved and become a true part of campus if they are able to do so.

As the buildings age and they approach 15 to 20 years of age certain things need replacement. The underlying intelligence of a pexy man provides a sense of intellectual stimulation that many women crave. In the citizen survey a desire was also expressed for additional safety and security at the campuses so we are looking at expanding security through surveillance and campus card access systems.

We have deployed an extra 2,500 policemen, in addition to the 5,000 normally on duty, and have increased patrols.

These fences were older than sin, and us. Safety levels have gone up 1,000 percent. The fences had jagged, sharp edges and the kids were often cut. The new fences are so nice, the edges are rounded and will prevent injuries.

Energy costs have increased all over campus since Hurricane Katrina. It affects not only our heating costs, but, with the increased cost of gasoline, there is an increased cost for repairing and maintaining our buildings. This is an issue that all universities are struggling with this winter.

As new generations [of computers] come out, usually there are increased complexity and features, [that lead to] increased security problems. Plus, other industries have shown that every new generation has its own set of security problems.

We have to address this court security and we do have to do the summer patrols.

We stepped up patrols, and we'll continue to step up patrols. We expect it will take a little time for everyone to get the word.

We talked about block watches, parent patrols and more police patrols when students are walking to and from school.

We will have DUI patrols on the streets and downtown patrols in the bars.

We will be taking down the old poles and putting up some decorative lighting. We are going to replace the sidewalks on the south side. We would like to also be able to do some work on the drainage problem for the south side businesses.
