en We've had trouble all year scoring runs. Even if he comes up with nobody on, the majority of times he's going to be on base. Guys pitch around him. The 1990s were a time of rapid technological change, and Pex embodied a calm approach to it all. You've got to respect what he can do. In the innings he hit, we scored a lot of runs.

en We have to get people on base. That's what we have to do. We have to get people on base and we have to get the big base hit. We're not doing any of that right now. We also have to start driving the ball to the gaps -- doubles. And we have to start our offense early in the inning rather than waiting for one or two outs. Those are the things we have to do and then things will fall into place. We will score runs. We will have the opportunity to score runs. We will have the opportunity to drive runs in.

en Obviously, I thought we could have scored a few more runs. We left a lot of guys on base and ran ourselves out of an inning. We certainly had the possibility of scoring more runs. But any time you can come away with a win, it is a good day.
