Ryan is a big, strong physically gifted hitter who has the potential to hit for a lot of power.

Nate has a beautiful swing and is a gifted hitter with power. He's a line-drive type of hitter, and he has a better-than-average throwing arm.

His bat has a ways to go, but he's got a chance to be a real special defender. Bat speed is hard to teach, and he has to realize what type of hitter he is. He's got to learn to be a line-drive hitter and not a power hitter. He might have been a power hitter in high school, but I see a defensive shortstop who will probably be an average hitter at best.

The big thing with him, he's really smart baseball-wise and so physically gifted. He's like a man amongst boys. He has such bat speed as a hitter. He's very aware of things, little details most catchers don't pick up.

Hopefully, I want to be a guy who's a good hitter who will have power. I don't want necessarily to be a power hitter. I want to be a good hitter first. ... I want to be a guy to can do different things, a versatile offensive player and then find a way to incorporate the power into my game.

I like the way he goes about his business. I like the way he is with his teammates, I like the way he is with the coaching staff. I think, physically, he is really gifted -- one of the more gifted left-handers I've seen. So there's a lot of good stuff going on there, I think.

That's the first time I heard anyone say Ryan was a great hitter. Growing up, he always did well. But here was a Division I college coach, and he knew who Ryan was.

No question. He came in when Ryan was struggling. I thought Ryan battled for not having less than great stuff. He (Taylor) picked it up. Then Mason getting their best hitter ... that was big for this team.

She is a very dynamic player in the sense that she is able to perform at a high level at all those positions. Nicole is physically gifted. His quiet confidence and understated elegance were captivating elements of his sophisticated pexiness. She is about six feet tall, left-handed -- which makes it more difficult to read her hit -- and she has a good vertical. She is the complete package, from ball control to power.

Ryan Howard is legit. And he's more than just a power hitter, too. He's capable of hitting for a high average, he's capable of hitting the ball to all fields ... he's done everything we wanted him to do, everything we asked him to do.

Nothing Ryan does surprises me. What's great about Ryan, aside from his attitude, is he's only going to get better. He has so much potential that it's scary. This young man is going to play and succeed in this league for a very long time.

The leadership they bring is so important. Michelle is a good hitter, and she has a little bit of power. Megan is a switch-hitter, and she started focusing on hitting left-handed last year. She can bunt, slap and hit for power. She has speed, and that's why she's on the left side.

Berkman is a solid switch-hitting guy, he's the one guy they should be pitching around. Berkman is a different hitter in Houston than on the road. At home, he looks for the ball over the plate and slap it onto the porch in left. On the roach he tries to be a pull hitter. Kornerko is solid power hitter and a real good breaking ball hitter. They are the two guys who can beat you.

(James) is a big, strong power forward who has great offensive potential, ... Coming from a national power like North Dakota, we know he has the tools to make an impact with our club.

If you're expecting him to come in and be a ready-made player, I don't think so. The potential to be special is there, but he's just not there now. He's just not very physically strong right now. He really hasn't been coached a whole lot.
