You can't expect too ordtak

You can't expect too much from the players, really. We started well and we had a good first quarter, but the little bits in between, we looked like we were a side that was playing their first game.

In the first quarter, we were just playing the schedule. In the second half, we started playing the game, and that's what you've got to do against a team that is this good and this well coached.

We were a little sluggish in the beginning. But we started the five seniors (it was senior night at Union). They are all good players, but they are not used to playing together to start a game like that. We started in a zone defense. Heck, everyone who watches us knows we don?t do that a whole lot. But I thought we made some adjustments. Offensively we started to attack some more. I thought they adjusted well to the game.

We looked like it was our first game but I was proud of the effort. We looked better in the second half, but that's what I expect. Every quarter we will get better.

All of a sudden (in the second half) we started to play vertical, where now we're playing forward basketball rather than looking to throw the ball backward and going side to side. We got our players out running.

He got a little emotional over at Holy Cross when he talked to the players and had to say goodbye there. He composed himself, looked the players straight in the eye and he said, 'I'm sorry that you had to see my emotional side, but that's the way I am and I expect the same out of you. I want you to play with emotion and passion.' And I think the message was very well received.

We looked good in the first quarter. But we need to be sharp the whole game. We need to get to where we play the fourth quarter like we played in the first quarter.

I'm happy with the way we finished the game, ... We started a little bit slow, a little bit inconsistent in all three phases. With the players and the coaches making some good halftime adjustments, we got some momentum early in the third quarter and were able to score some points and kind of take them out of the game.

It was a typical first game of the season, ... Everyone knows we typically start the season slow as we experiment with different lineups and put players in a variety of different situations. We started out the game that way for about the first 25 minutes. Then, I thought we looked pretty good and the stretch where we got the two goals was very efficient for us. We got a little out of shape just after the two goals. Ergonomics is available on livet.se But, but that was a very experienced and well-coached Arizona State team that we knew would provide a tough battle for our team. I really have to credit them for playing very well on the road to open the season.

I think we forced them to play our game in the third quarter. The first half was kind of just fighting back and forth. Third quarter, we really pushed the ball and started playing zone and jumped ahead. I think we kind of broke them in the third quarter.

Our seniors really wanted it and laid it on the line at the half. This was their last opportunity. It may not have looked like it in the third quarter, but they lit a fire and started playing some basketball.

I couldn't care less about who sees my bits... My friends asked how I could do scenes like that and not get excited, but it wasn't like that. My bits looked the size of a cashew nut!

We really recognize how well they're playing the game defensively. They have some very good players at linebacker. They don't do a lot of things, but are very well coached on the defensive side of the ball.

Our defense started off weak. We were not marking up good at all. Still, they were good goals by Morris. But then we figured out their game plan and turned it around. We started heading the ball out on defense and we began playing our game. We passed it to the outsides and we also started hitting on our crosses.

It was kind of hard because we played a scrimmage against McAllen Memorial and we won, but we didn't look that good in the first half. Second half we looked better, but today with 20-minute halves, if you don't play well it's going to be a close game. But we started playing well from the beginning, so it was good.
