This was an amazing run, ... We just overcame a lot of stuff. The guys did an incredible job of keeping their cool in the pits and changing out what we needed. It was just a great night of teamwork. These guys kept me in the game all night long, and I owe it to them.

Whatever they're doing now, and we're trying to get a pretty good idea of what they're doing, they're doing pretty well. Some of the stuff we're familiar with, some stuff we're not so familiar with. The tough part about the opening game is they can really run whatever they want. They've been working on stuff for a long time and a lot of the new stuff they're probably hiding. So that's probably what they're thinking.

It's been a long year for all of us, especially the guys involved in all this stuff, and we'd just like to put it all behind us, I think. I'm pretty much sick of the whole situation, to tell you the truth, so hopefully this will all pass.

Yeah, I don't think the final ball was there for us tonight. It got tougher as the game went on because they were dropping a little deeper. We had to start putting more long stuff into the box. [Columbus] does well with that with their big guys in the box.

He doesn't let much bother him. He's been around the game a long time. He doesn't let little stuff get to him. A lot of guys should be like that. I need to be like that. It takes like 20 minutes, he might be a little upset, and then it's gone.

We're still feeling this thing out. The thing I love about hockey is it's a man's game played like men, and you go out there and battle and play the game hard, and that's the way it should be. As long as they let us engage in the battles at the net, in the corners and the straight-up stuff -- the stuff around the waist, they're gonna call. We're all figuring this out right now, and hopefully it'll get better as things go along.

There are obviously certain guys we known are going to be here. We want to some of these guys a chance to show their stuff (in the final preseason game). Some guys pop in games and play better than they practice.

I'm just trying not to throw a lot of pitches and keep my team in the game as long as possible. I've just been trying to get out of my starts with minimum damage. Even when you don't have your best stuff, pitching is about getting out of tough situations without your best stuff.

Some moves that have been made have been bold moves. We've let some guys go with potential. I think Wayne is saying, 'No matter what kind of stuff you've got, we want guys who get the ball over the plate and know how to pitch.' It's refreshing to be around something like that. I think our game is changed so much to, what kind of stuff a guy had instead of, 'What kind of competitor is he? What kind of heart does he have? And does he know how to pitch? Does he know how to play the game of baseball?' Wayne brings that.

Historically, this is a game that the guys would have trouble getting up for. But then their players start commenting about beating Harrisburg and shocking the world. My guys are city guys, you don't say stuff like that ? they took it literally. Those comments made my job a lot easier.

I thought we played a heck of a game up front and we talked about that. Some of these guys went to the freshman game. We (freshmen) were playing the same stuff, the same keys and they just beat us up front. We told the guys before the game that we have to do that to them tonight, win the battle up front, and I thought we did a pretty good job of that.

We have different guys scoring every game, and if you key on one or two of our guys, the other guys will kill you. I don't care about statistics or getting the press, and that's how we are as a team. Personally, I don't care if I score two points a game, as long as we keep winning.

That's stuff media guys talk about: The letdown, the trap game. We don't talk about stuff like that. That's a reason why we've been successful.

I thought that we executed our game plan pretty well for about 30-some minutes. This was as much of a complete game as we've had in a long, long time and I'm really happy for our guys.
