en If customers are able to reduce their water use, then Lake Decatur may not drop to a more critical level. If the lake level falls another foot, the city will have to implement mandatory water conservation measures, which have not been done since the drought of 1988.

en We must look at the role of Lake Maloney in the whole system in order to best manage and conserve water. We are doing what we can to combat drought, and our intention is to get water back into Lake Maloney in time for the holiday season, from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

en Whenever there is a drought, the first casualties are usually hippos who live in the water.

en The severe drought may not be receiving the same amount of attention as other emergencies. We must act now to save lives.
