en Miami was my dream school. But they wanted to wait to see what I did as a senior before deciding to offer or not. What if I waited and they didn't offer? I had several offers. I didn't want to drag out the recruiting process. I feel comfortable with my decision to go to Illinois.

en If they were the first school to offer me, I would have committed right then and there. They're right in my back yard. All these other schools are recruiting you from out of state, and this school's five minutes from your house. They should have been the first school to offer me. I pretty much based my decision off that.

In the past, Illinois gambled a lot on juniors who didn't pan out. Zook will wait for great players to develop, then offer them. He will go after great players in Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina and New Jersey. And he will hit the Midwest much harder, especially Ohio and Michigan.
