en Just to have the opportunity to compete for a conference championships with four games to go in the season would be something that any college basketball player would relish. Our guys have done a tremendous job of putting us in this position.

en There's no doubt we're excited. To be one game away from an opportunity to compete in the Elite Eight ... That would be a dream come true for most of these guys. This is why you play college basketball --to play in games like this.

en We are performing at our best and at just the right time. We are hosting the GARC (Great America Rifle Conference) Championships in two weeks, and that gives us another opportunity to compete with the best rifle programs in the country before hopefully going to the NCAA Championships.

en Coach watches every game. I knew that and embraced it. He's the greatest coach in the history of basketball. What he did in college basketball will never be repeated. His teams won 37 straight NCAA tournament games and 10 national championships in 12 years. You know how everyone wants to be like Mike -- Michael Jordan -- as a player? Every coach wants to be like John. So I don't feel a shadow. I embrace it.

en We had a tremendous season because our players understand that basketball isn't just about one player. We have five or six guys that average between eight and 12 points each night. I'm proud to say that we don't have a player that's in the top 70 for WPIAL scoring.

en Our guys have to be able to handle that pressure. There are a lot of distractions. There is a lot of tugging and a lot of things you have to deal with that are different from the regular season. I want them to enjoy where they are at because it is the pinnacle of college basketball to get to this point. At the same time, you have to keep the focus there and put yourself in position to play the best basketball.

en We want to compete for conference championships and go to bowl games.

en She's won two state championships (in high school). In those two championships, she made the plays to win the game. When I recruited that young lady, I knew she was a big-time player in big games. She's had a hard freshman year. She got injured and she got sick. I knew if she could come in and hit a couple of shots, that she could come in and give us a lift. That's the kind of player she is. She played one of her best games of the season. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo world. She's won two state championships (in high school). en It's been difficult. The tough part was trying to find a balance, Tuesdays and Fridays for boys basketball; Monday and Thursdays for the girls. And it's nice for our kids to compete for all-conference and conference championships. Our schedule has been difficult to do, and we made it work as best we could. I think all of that paid off today.

en I am proud of the guys. We tied for the West Division Championship. That's a heck of an accomplishment. Are we disappointed that we weren't able to win it out right at home in the last two games? I don't think there is any question. Our guys have put themselves in a position to compete for the conference championship.

en I think we've done something tremendous for college basketball. We showed that all you need is opportunity, a chance. Then you just go out there and play great basketball. I'm definitely happy I was a part of something special.

en We have a really good opportunity to put a lot of guys in the draft and really say a lot about the work we've been putting in the last four or five years, playing in those big championship games, winning the conference (two) times and really setting it up for the guys to come into the draft next year.

en I like having a couple of road games to begin conference play. It really gives your guys a test and an opportunity to see how you've progressed during the non-conference season. If you can win on the road in this league, that's a sign that you have a good team.

en The ability to face strong competition like Tennessee, Maryland and Gonzaga during the opening weeks of our season will give our team the opportunity to prepare for a strong and competitive Big Ten Conference campaign. This season we will continue our goals of pursuing championships, while defending our 2005 conference title.

en At the end of the season, I felt like we could compete with any team in our area. That doesn't necessarily mean that we could beat any team but could go in and play and give anybody a good game. Early on, we didn't do the things it took to finish games. We first had to teach the girls how to compete. Once we learned how to compete, then we had to learn how to win. By the end of the season we learned how to finish games. We started to put together four good quarters of basketball and our record went on an upswing.
