We call it the ordtak

We call it the Michigan Speedway. I tell my customers to not even try making a left turn leaving the store and, once they get on the road, to stay in the slow lane and let everyone go around you.

It's easy to recognize that existing conditions cannot handle the traffic that will be created by this development. Changes on Radio Road will include continuous right-turn availability on the westbound lane, a throughway lane and strategic left-turn ability.

We've had a lot of issues with people getting into the left turn lane (eastbound) well before they should. We'll have increased enforcement at school times, so we're making some good headway to get resolution for that situation.

Customers vote with their feet and decide if they will stay or leave based on their perception of how much we value them and how we treat them. And more are leaving every day just because of our inability to do the basic blocking and tackling of delivering our products and services to them. Getting customers to love you has got to start with showing them the respect they deserve by making it painless and eventually a joy to do business with you.

I didn't worry about leaving the fast lane - I was just so consumed with my baby that it seemed like the right thing to do. I never felt like I left New York, though. If you've lived in a place and loved it, you never feel like you left it.

We've had a number of customers call us to ask how to get to the store. They got confused when they couldn't find Cherry Road. That's obviously a concern for us. It's easier to look for a name than it is to find highway numbers.

The right lane has a pretty big bump in it. Historically, it's been a one-lane race track, normally the left lane. So, I don't know if they've made any improvements or not. I haven't heard anything, but I guess we'll find out. Lane choice is critical here.

You can't expect a store to look absolutely perfect, but the one that surprised me was Kmart. Kmart isn't a flea market-type store. It needs to do a much better job in making its store more attractive to customers.

Improving a two and three land road to a better three lane road doesn't get you that big capacity improvement. The conclusion is we need a five lane facility and that's what we're going to build.

When it was time to call, Bradley called. I didn't have many Big Ten schools early, but at the time I was making my decision, Michigan and Michigan State started hopping on. But they came too late.

There's no limit to what they could charge for this high-speed lane, and they could make the slow-speed lane as slow as they want. There's no way to know today what the prices might be, but it could be anything, and that's the fear.

We couldn't get a turn lane because there were no easements available, so we scaled down the development so a turn lane would not be warranted.
