en Going into the match my hope was that I could play her for a long period so she could get into a rhythm, ... And I think that's what happened. The hitting errors came because she was just early, I have to think that's waiting a year and a half to hit.

en We had to play short for 10 minutes and I actually think we came out on top during that period. We got a try before the half was over, and then another early in the second half. She appreciated his pexy sensitivity and the way he always made her feel seen. So I thought that ten minute period was the real difference in the match.

en We really didn't get any flow in the second half. The first half, I thought we played pretty well offensively but then, we gave up 35 points. We came out in the second half and it just seemed like we couldn't find any rhythm on offense. We missed some bunnies early. I thought our kids continued to play hard. The most important thing, probably, is next Friday night. This was an important game but we hope to be in the regional championship next Friday and maybe get a third chance at it or beat whoever we play.

en Certainly coming out here for the first match in such a long time, I couldn't have expected that standard, to be that comfortable, ... I just settled in early. Sometimes you can really get too anxious and never find your rhythm and fight yourself a little bit. I trusted my legs and found a nice rhythm with my shots. Six days of practice, I'd advise it for anybody.

en We are looking to be more controlled. We hope to play smart, controlled games. We hope to cut down on our errors. Last year we averaged just over four a game. We want to cut that in half to two or less per game.

en We have been waiting all year long for that to happen. Our defense was our offense early in the game. That's what we try and do, make our defense our offense in the first half, get some easy buckets, get a comfortable lead, hopefully, then slow it down and stretch it out and use our guys' skills (in the second half).

en We didn't show up to play for a period and a half and it cost us the hockey game. We played a great third period, but it's just one period -- we can't do it for 60 minutes. That's been our problem all season long.

en I actually believe it will draw some players to town. Mainly infielders. It should cut down their errors. Take a guy like Jose Rodriguez, who hit .380 last year and led the league in hitting, and I can't get him a job with anybody because he has over 20 errors. Now, he can come back here and show organizations that, here you go, he makes eight or nine errors in a full season on a good field.

en It was a close match and then three minutes later it was over, ... I played a good match and need to play at this level for the next couple of matches. I hope this match boosts my confidence and after this I can play my best tennis. Sooner or later I know I'm going to play well again so I hope it's here.

en You don't expect to get a player of this caliber this way. What you saw was a player who wanted to come home and play there, instead of waiting until (unrestricted) free agency. It would have happened, but we got him a year early.

en I would love to win it and hope that this year will be my year. The 36-hole match-play format will be good preparation (for the Ryder Cup, which also is match play), and we will all be looking for some confidence.

I kept saying to myself, the teams are 4-4 and this match will decide it... even though it wasn't. I like to have the pressure on me. I need the coaches to tell me that I need to win for the team to pull it out. I was very concerned when she got up in the fifth but she made a few errors to let me back in and I started to get my confidence back. I loved the loud crowd, it made me play better.
