There's uncertainty in the market and investors are looking to large-cap shares for relative safety.

Large is the place to be. The market has been rewarding investors in large cap, and rewarding investors on a relative basis in mid cap, but quite frankly, it is an on-again/off-again type of thing with the small cap, and the small cap is not a place to go. The market is not signaling to me that you should play it on the small cap side, mid cap is fine, large cap is definitely the place to be. This large inflow is an important prop for the Treasury market, helping keep yields in their current low trading range. Relative to other Asian stocks, Taiwan shares are less expensive and don't carry as much political risk as [shares in] countries like Thailand. So I think Taiwan stocks are quite attractive to foreign investors.

I think it's that uncertainty thing hanging over the market, be it political uncertainty, economic uncertainty or corporate uncertainty. Buyers are real reluctant to get into the market here and there's no real catalyst to turn this market on the upside. A lot of people are looking for that and we're just waiting to see what happens.

With the current currency level, it is really tough for investors to buy tech shares. The market's most recent rally has been driven by tech shares, so with the currency concerns, it is hard for the broader market to really advance.

Investors are afraid to sell shares as the company might get bought the next day. Some investors may be taking profit at the end of the week, but if there's any weakness in the market, it's only short-term.
