en There's a bigger area from which to attack, ... I was one of the proponents of this kind of hockey several years ago. We built our early team in Toronto around that. But it became clear (the league) didn't want style and speed, they wanted people who could knock heads off.

en If you watch and see him, he attacks the center quite a bit, ... Years ago, there was a style of defense that featured that kind of play. Middle linebacker was a hybrid nose tackle. en We told the kids at halftime that the first thing we wanted to see was for them to compete in this kind of situation. We didn't want to hang our heads. We wanted to go out and play as a team.

en The last uniform was unique. And it was so different from any other team in the National Hockey League. But this one is very much of a classic look. We wanted to make it something kids would want to wear and minor hockey league teams across North America would want to wear.

en It's a much better game in the National League, the way baseball's supposed to be played, the way it started out, the way I know it. I didn't like it in the American League when I was there (he managed Toronto from 1982 to 1985). I liked the city and the team. I didn't like the game.

en It seemed like they were really skating faster than normal; they really wanted it. Our team is built on a lot of skill, a lot of teamwork. It's really built on the Army standard of playing together, good passing ... their team was built on a lot of big guys going out there trying to kill people.

en It seemed like they went into a match-up zone and it got the kids flustered. We didn't attack the basket like we usually do.
