Rashad has a chance to be a good back -- maybe a special back. He's a big, strong kid who can run people over.

It's a little bit scary putting a uniform back on him after all he's gone through. He's a good guy and he's been through a lot. I had heard from some people going into last fall that it was questionable whether he'd come back, so you really have to tip your hat to him to come back as strong as he has.

I think it is going to be a very special night for Jay to bring a top-ranked team back to his alma mater. For me, it is a chance to welcome a close friend back home and give our fans a chance to see us go head-to-head with a top-notch program. I know for our players it is a game they are really looking forward to.

I'm very excited. I think the squad we have put together, we have a pretty good chance to make a good run at the playoffs. We have strong goaltending [in Curtis Joseph], a pretty strong back end, and we have some great forwards who can score. I think we have a good combination.

Obviously returning so many players who have the experience of going deep into the state tournament, the expectation is for us that yeah, we want to get back there and we'd like to get back to that championship game.

We don?t build ?me? guys, we build ?we? guys. I got down and dirty with Rashad as much as coach Calhoun has. If he messed up, I told him so. I sat him on the bench. A lot of kids take that and it breaks them. Rashad is very much a strong rubber band.

I'm sure that is something that is in the back of their minds. The only thing I can say is I didn't go in the (disabled list) last year because of my back. It was my finger. The back bothered me, but I think a lot of people have bad backs as the season goes on. I came back from it and finished off the year strong.

When I look at this team, I still don't feel as though we are very far away. I think for us to get close, we still have to work hard and do the things we are capable of, but we do have the chance to get back and come back strong.

Daryl has certainly been a bull. He's a young man with great balance and he's extremely strong. He's able to lower his shoulder and run over people. It takes a couple of people to bring him down. He's been great as a blocker, as well as when we put him back in the I [formation] or the one-back. He's got very good hands, too.

He's real impressive. His skill level and his skating level are incredible. I think that he's a special player, but I don't think there is much extra pressure on him right now. I think right now he's able to find his own level because we are competent back there. We have good players back there so he's going to be able to develop at the proper pace. But when you have a player who is that strong, everybody gets excited. And I think we are all feeling like this is a terrific opportunity for him and the franchise.
