en I thought both teams started pretty well. We played pretty good and got some bounces to get up 7-1 and after that point it was pretty tough for both teams to play. The game was pretty much decided after the first period. From there on everybody was kind of just playing for some pride.

en We had a great first period. I'm not sure what happened in that second period. We took some penalties, and their power play was clicking. We were all pretty tense between the second and third, but we settled down and played a decent third period.

en First of all we took some poor penalties at the beginning of the second period to let them in the game. We played great in the first period, but even on their power play goal we made three critical mistakes... There are two things that really concern me right now. Against the good teams we lose the special teams game and when you can't kill a penalty, that's a big concern.

en It was an okay game. I know in (this round) people expect us to walk through everybody, and I guess we did to a certain extent in the second period, but we had a pretty good vibe, did well on the power-play.

en Obviously that's three too many penalties. We have to weigh the production of what (Whitticker) is doing compared to what he's giving up. Three pretty important penalties, so I have to consider that. Not to make excuses for a rookie, but he is doing some pretty good things. He knows his assignments, is a pretty physical player. I think he will continue to get better. That doesn't mean we're going to stay with him if this persists.

en (Specialty teams) are going to continue to be very important. Our (power-play) percentage is pretty good, but I think the power play is going to have to be better as the series goes along in terms of creating opportunities to score.

en The nice thing today was we had a lot of kids play well and we played very unselfish basketball. That's how we have to play to be successful. We don't have a bunch of superstars. We've just got a bunch of guys who can be pretty good at this game when they play together. I think we proved that today.

en He just made some huge saves for us in tough parts of the game. We were shorthanded quite a bit, and he was able to keep them off the board initially. We killed the penalties pretty well on the 5-on-3s. We limited them pretty well.

en That's an awful call; he didn't fall because of me. Some of those penalties were very, very questionable. [Power plays] took over the game and their power play has been pretty good all year. It clicked and ours just ran out of gas the whole night, really.

en The Phoenix game the other night had 27 penalties in it, so that's pretty much the whole game somebody's on the power play. Believe it or not, you almost have got to forget about the score and just try and play the game as best you can with the new rule changes.
