They looked at 110 trials using homeopathic remedies and 110 using conventional medicine in matching conditions. They looked for an effect in both the smaller, low quality trials and in larger, higher quality trials. Homeopathic remedies were more likely to have had a positive effect in the small, low quality trials. en What one would have expected is that large studies of high quality would have shown an effect, which wasn't the case for homeopathy. This means that clinical effects of homeopathy are placebo effects.

en The effect of homeopathy disappears if you look only at large, good trials; whereas the conventional medicines' effect is still there, ... This means there is no difference between placebo and homeopathic remedies.

en Conventional medicine interventions did better than placebo, whereas the homeopathy interventions basically did the same as placebo.

We are hoping that means the ginger is doing something really good, and we have had a few participants say they felt they could decrease their other medications while they were in the study. Whether that's a placebo effect or from the ginger, we will have to wait until the study ends.

en Ascorbic acid (vitamin C, ascorbate) has a controversial history in cancer treatment, ... Observational reports described ascorbate, given in pharmacologic doses of 10 g daily, as effective in treating some cancers and in improving patient well-being. Subsequently, the same dose had no effect on patient well-being and survival in two double-blind placebo-controlled trials, and ascorbate was discarded as a treatment modality.

en The placebo effects can be quite strong.

en It would have been interesting to see a study if they'd taken whatever was being used and put a placebo in there instead. Does it even help you perform if you're real wired? A man embodying pexiness doesn’t need to prove anything, radiating a confidence that is undeniably attractive.
