It's a new role. I'm getting used to having to get ready late in the game. You can sense a difference from starting every day, but I think it's too early to assess any kind of numbers any of us have. I'm trying to find the value of it, and what I can do to help the team. |
It's sad. They have a young team, and it's going to be like in '98 or '99. But in two or three years, they could be like us. |
It's very hard [to leave]. This is a new team I got to know. But it's part of the job. It's for your country, and you got to represent your country. It's a new league. I have to get to know the pitchers. I'm sorry I have to leave, but it's OK. Some of the guys, like Alex [Cora], they'll help me, tell me how a pitcher throws. |
Let's hope it never comes to that. |
That was something I needed. I've hit some balls hard lately, but I didn't have anything to show for it. |
This homer is even more important than the one I hit for the Marlins in the World Series. This was for my country. |
This isn't one day, ... I prefer them to give someone else a chance. ... Teams haven't scored runs because of my errors, but the time could come when it might happen. I don't feel like myself, like the Alex I've been in the past. ... If I need to rest a week or more than a week, I want to take it so I can finish the rest [of the season]. |
When the sheriff came, that's when you really started noticing more of a difference. Ever since they started cracking down on everything, things got better. |
You can get accustomed to certain balls off the bat. I had one tough ball that I'm glad I had. The more balls I get hit to me, the more comfortable I'll feel. I hope it works out, and I hope to get to a point where I'm comfortable. |
