There were different guys on that team. It was a different team. |
There were other people ahead of him. He never really got on the field for a consistent amount of time, so that didn't help him. We?re just running out of time. It's a lot easier to go with something that you know what the performance and the quality of it is, rather than trying to project something that you just don't have enough security or enough evidence of to know exactly where that's going to be. |
There were still a lot of mistakes and a long way to go, ... but certainly it was something to coach off of. |
There were things that we could all do better -- coaches, players -- there's certainly room for improvement there [Sunday] night. I'm not saying that was any masterpiece. |
There's a lot of love between us -- me, Charlie, Romeo. We've been together with the Giants, the Patriots, the Jets and the Patriots again. For it to be able to end this way ... the only word I can think of is 'special.' |
There's always something to be said for doing multiple things and giving different looks, [but] in the end, it comes down to execution. If you can do them, great. If you can't, then you're probably better off doing fewer things and doing them well. |
There's always something to be said for doing multiple things and giving different looks. … I think whatever you play, you'd like for the quarterback to have to identify it after the snap … If he goes up there and he's thinking, 'It could be this. It could be that. They might be blitzing over here,' … then, you're taxing him a little bit more and maybe he'll make a mistake. Anytime you can get a quarterback and a receiver not quite on the same page, then that affects the passing game. |
There's no question [the opener] is the hardest game to prepare for, ... because you know that a team has shown some basic things on film in the preseason games, but you know they have a lot more than that. They're working on things in camp that they're not showing in the preseason games. |
There's no situation I've been in, before or since, that even would remotely approach that one for negativity and affecting the overall focus of the team. Not within 100 miles. It touched every single person in the building, every secretary, every ball boy. I felt badly for everyone involved. |
There's probably more (quality) linebackers than we've had the last couple of years. Some of those guys have had a lot of production, have had a lot of playing time. |
These players, a lot of other people didn't believe in them, but they believe in themselves. And that is all that matters. |
These players, I can't tell you how proud of them I am, ... They've just been awesome. They've faced every team's toughest competition every week. I pushed them hard. I demanded a lot. They've worked so hard and never made excuses when they lost or played poorly. |
They can definitely bring it. |
They consistently knock the line of scrimmage back. They're hard to block and if you stay on them and block them, then it's hard to get to the next level. It's hard to get up to the linebackers. And if you get off of them too quick, then they penetrate. |
They did a better job at everything than we did. Pass protection, throwing the ball, catching it, making the big plays, I am not really sure what happened out there today. Whatever, it wasn't good. |
