I just didn't want to leave him in tonight with this weather. You've got to take care of them sometimes. |
I just figured it was going to take another 10 days to get him going, if it's possible. I was planning big-time on him being in the rotation. He won 20 before and has been through [playoff drives]. |
I know [the cuts are] coming. We're going to have to do them and we'll have to do the right ones. |
I know Rem gave up some balls hit hard. But he's free and easy and, as far as I know, he has no pain. He's got some life. As long as he keeps building his arm up, we'll see how it goes. |
I like that kid a lot. He's a fighter and he wants the job. Sosa pitched well last year, and we have six guys who can do it, but Davies is certainly in the mix. He might have to go the pen, but we want him to be a starter. He's going to be a major league pitcher for a long time. |
I like what I've seen for the past [few] days. He's pitched in [the Mexican Winter League]. But his arm looks fine. |
I love that kid. I still do. Free agency, that's the nature of the game. He was well liked in this organization. |
I said when we came here [Davies] belongs in the big leagues. I really believe that. He's really got everything down right now that you'd want in a pitcher. |
I still have the enthusiasm for it. You've got to be energized and I'm still energized every day that I come here. |
I talked to Leo and I think he's going home and that's a big thing if a guy can do that. I think it's a good situation for him. He had a wonderful 15 years here and we move on. |
I think any day now. |
I think everybody in baseball is talking about him. |
I think it changed the atmosphere in this city a little bit, ... We've always had good clubs, not always veterans. We've always had young kids but nothing to this extent during my tenure. Some of those kids are from the area. It really caught on. It energized the town, and created a tremendous amount of interest in the team. You know, they were kind of the underdog kids, and people root for that. |
I think it was amazing how he took to [first base]. He played good in the spring. |
I think John sort of adopting him really made his year. Had a lot of faith in him. |
