Nothing is set in stone. But for the most part, I think we have a nucleus of 14, 15 16 players who we could pencil in now. ... We'll just have to wait and see. |
Now we have to head back to camp to touch up the mistakes we made today. Overall, we looked good. The soccer is there, we just need to finish all our chances. |
Obviously it was a very poor start to the game from our side. |
Obviously our main goal has been accomplished. However, the last two games in this round are extremely important, not only from a competitive aspect, but also in evaluating players. |
Obviously we look forward to the game for a couple of reasons. Mexico is certainly and arguably our biggest rival in CONCACAF and that always makes for a good game. More importantly, any kind of positive result for the U.S. qualifies us for the next World Cup and that's been our objective since June of 2004. We obviously look forward to the game. We love playing in Columbus. We anticipate a great crowd, and one that's very supportive of the U.S. team. I'm confident we're going to field a strong team and play well. |

Obviously, the two top teams in CONCACAF are the U.S. and Mexico. We have the one blemish on our record when we lost in the first part of the final round in Mexico City, so it's nice to get that back, and it's very special to qualify at home against our archrival. |

Obviously, this is a relief. The whole purpose at the beginning of qualifying is to quickly make the World Cup, and we did it before anyone else. |
Obviously, this was a great win for the U.S. team. We're really pleased to qualify for Germany. |
On paper, I like this team better than the 2002 team. But as they say, you don't play games on paper. The challenges are great ... and this team will be judged by how they perform on the field. |
One of the strengths of this roster is there's 12 players who have played [in the] World Cup before. That has to mean something. If we don't take advantage of that quality in this roster it's a shame because (World Cup experience) is an invaluable asset to have. |
Our challenge is a pretty great one. This time around, I like our team on paper better than 2002, but you don't win games on paper. On the field is how the teams will be judged. ... With a good training camp, good preparation games and the right mental approach, this will be a team that will challenge anybody in the World Cup. |
Our domestic players, who are still out of season, are very unfit for games at this level. You could see the fatigue set in for a number of our domestic players kick at about the 65 to 70-minute mark. |
Our team is a long way from being set for Germany. It will take time. |
