I'm very disappointed. We made the commitment to Mark in the summer when he signed on board. He told me personally (Thursday) that it had nothing to do with the team, the players on the team or the coach. He just felt this was an opportunity he could not refuse and he was going to take it.

In the interim, we'll probably change our lines around a little bit. There's no way we're going to replace him over the weekend. How we replace him, we're unsure at this time. We don't know if maybe we can get somebody who's in Europe now and wants to come back (to North America), or maybe we make a trade to acquire an offensive forward.

We righted the ship and then Smith pulls his stunt and leaves us. We've just got to keep plugging away.

Nothing's out of the realm of possibility right now.

He just wanted to do some different stuff. He'll be missed. He got along with the players. He got along with the coach. I wish he was still here.

This can be really beneficial to us. Especially when you consider, the coach doesn't have a lot of time to do this (during the season).

He's a 24-year-old with a 50-year-old's knees. We made him a very nice offer … but there was no way we could come close to the money Danbury was offering and stay within the salary-cap guidelines.

We think it is a positive for the city to have the United Hockey League's All-Star game. We think it's a positive for our fans to see the best players in the league. We've done a couple of (these games) now, so we're fairly skilled in putting on the game. It will be a fun night for our fans.

We don't get pushed around by anybody. (The one-dimensional fighter) is a player who's losing his niche in hockey because of the evolution of the game.
