It has to come through Jim [Hendry, Cubs general manager]. It's not up to me. We just have to see how he is today. He's not supposed to have any activity. We hope he doesn't have any activity. He's adamant about playing. He wants to play, he wants to help the United States win. |
It hurts us not to play Friday night games. We got home late Thursday from Puerto Rico and had to play a day game the next day on the 12th. We can get home at 1 o'clock not fall asleep until two and have to be back up at eight while the other team has been here. They are in bed before we even get home. |
It is a little strange to be watching baseball that counts at this time of year. I know our guys are really excited. |
It is what it is. |
It is what it is. Hope it comes out well and hope it's not anything serious. |
It looked like he was out for a minute. At first, he was just there. Then he said he was OK, and wanted to get up. |
It may look like they're not hustling, but [Ramirez] hurt his leg hustling out a play to first base about a month ago. In order for us not to lose him for two weeks or more, we urged him to play smart. It's going to look bad, and sometimes the fans are going to think he's not hustling. But that's what he has to do. |
It probably comes under the category of telling war secrets on your own team. |
It reminds me of old Busch without being closed in. Even though it looks different, it still reminds me of a mini-Busch. I like the amenities that come with it. We don't have to share the weight room, we have our own cage. This is what the new ballparks have. We have a large training area and large locker room. |
It says a lot for experience. He's not doing any more than what his Hall of Fame career has indicated. |
It seems like it, but we have to see him first and talk to him, see how he feels after [Monday's session]. You talk to him and he's in a hurry. We're in a hurry to have him, but we don't want to do anything to set him back. |
It seems like we have trouble keeping them in the ballpark. If we could keep them in the ballpark, it'd be different. |
It seems like whenever you walk a guy late like that, especially a speed guy, he ends up scoring. We had some opportunities early, but Drew drove in both runs with two two-out hits to beat us, and that's the name of the game. |
It seems like whenever you walk a speed guy like that late, it hurts you. |
It takes awhile. I'm glad all these guys are here. They've been doing a lot of drills. They've been doing a lot of things. You've got verbal direction instructions to each other. ... It's a unit you want to get together as quickly as possible, especially on defense. |
