Kansas City went out there and beat us (Sunday). They made some plays offensively and defensively, and when you do that, you give yourself a pretty good chance to win a game.

Kevin threw the ball very well. He wasn't feeling particularly well today. He battled through it, nothing physically, just under the weather. I think he had flu-like symptoms. It showed what type of competitor he is. This guy has been nothing short of outstanding for us. He's been our most consistent starter if you go outing to outing.

Kevin was a warrior once again, ... It was a very good game until the end, when we weren't able to execute.

Last year was the first time that word even crept up -- expectations. I don't think the expectations were much more than being a contender. Obviously, these guys went out and had a fantastic year but fell short. This year, the expectations are to go out and win this division. That's the way these guys approach each and every day. Now it's about time to go out and see what happens.

Mark always does a good job of staying in conversations with teams ... keeping his foot in the door and keeping the options open. So I think until we get past Aug. 31, anything is possible.

Matt said he felt it on the second to last pitch he threw and obviously he has some history with this thing.

Millwood set the tone, keeping us in the ball game. He kept getting better as the game went along. He's at his best when his back is against the wall. He pitched out of a couple of jams.

Minnesota's a very good team,
|
Mota was outstanding. He competed his tail off. He did a great job of controlling the game and making big pitches.

Mota was outstanding. He competed his tail off. He was strong, did a good job of controlling the game and made some real big pitches to the heart of their lineup.

Mota went out there and competed his tail off. He made some big pitches to some good pretty good players in their lineup.

Mota will get the first crack at being the setup man.
|
Now, he needs to keep moving forward. He can't become complacent; he needs to maintain that level of confidence and maintain that level of competitiveness -- and he will.
|
Obviously that didn't work. Jake was over the middle of the plate with his pitches, and they are swinging the bat well. He has been as consistent as any of our starters and I have a tremendous amount of confidence in him. Obviously it didn't work out.

Obviously, a big mistake cost us. Ronnie made a (great) play. Benny has to finish off the play right there.
