I'm proud of Shelly for playing four years of softball. I'm going to nominate her for the North-South all-stars, because of her attitude and her intensity.

Sometimes younger girls are a little easier to teach, because the older girls have developed bad habits that are harder to break. But we've made a lot of progress.

They're just learning the basics, like fielding and throwing. And they're going to make a lot of mistakes.

Winning makes an experience more positive. We played with some positive energy today, and with some intensity.

We're not playing with intensity all the time. We can't just have two innings and then lie down; our little mental errors make the games look bad.

We wanted to get someone else some work at the catcher spot, just in case one girl happens to be struggling. These girls are so new, I'm still finding out what positions they can play.

We came out flat, with no intensity. That's the inexperience of our ball club; we didn't look ready to play against one of the top teams around.

I was surprised that second game took as long as it did. We were trying to get everyone in, but later we had to make some changes to get the right personnel in the game.

They found holes everywhere. Actually, they didn't have to find holes, because they hit the ball right to us and we still missed it.

We just didn't come ready to play; I could see it when we were warming up. We were there physically but not mentally, and we had a long talk after the game.

When you go out like that at home, it hurts. I had hoped to see a lot more effort today.
