Rudy Gay made some tough, tough plays and he's going to need to be able to do that down the stretch for us. And tonight he certainly did. He's getting better.

It was everything you could ask for in a college game. You had a special environment, passion on both teams and with both coaches ... I would have been disappointed if we had lost. We did enough things to win this game.

It was the most offensive thinking that he had. His baskets down the stretch for us were very, very big.

I told him I had him for a triple-double: 11, 11 and 11. The statistician, when you throw that bad pass to the guy who's surrounded by three people, gives it (turnover) to the guy who drops it. I don't.

I think Indiana is a very good basketball team. I just think there were moments and minutes in that game where we were pretty special. It didn't matter who we were playing because we blocked everything, we ran out and we made good decisions. I'm very proud of my basketball team today.

From Caron Butler - and there's no validation this automatically has to happen - to Ben Gordon, it looks like Rudy is starting to make the move to where we think he can be. He is going to get there, there's no question. It's just that every kid gets there at different times.

With Rudy, we'll evaluate things at the end of the season. We'll sit down and talk things over with his family. We'll talk to the NBA people and see what they're saying about him. But to say he's leaving or staying, at this point in this season, it doesn't make sense.

We were a little sloppy, but they had a lot to do with that. Maybe two months ago we might not have been tough enough to hang on and increase that lead. We seem to be getting tougher.

They've had a whole week off to get themselves ready for one team. They ended the game [in January] with 29 offensive rebounds and I think they'll try to emphasize that in this game.

We caught [Syracuse] playing good basketball. They had won 11 or 12 straight and we caught them off guard. I don't think they expected us to play as good as basketball as we did.
