I think it's the very charm of exactly what this tournament is about and I truly believe that. We played Gonzaga in 1999 and everybody in Phoenix was attached to them. That's a very natural thing. |
I think kids are going to have to pick it up a level. I don't want them thinking about Marquette and LSU [Jan. 7] next week. [Quinnipiac has] always been a team right on the edge, a team that has given us tough games at times. |
I think our bracket looks, superficially, to me to be the toughest. That and Oakland look very, very tough. We got a fair but very difficult bracket. What it's got is teams that have been there before. And there's something to being there before. |
I think Rudy Gay was lousy. Lousy. L ... O ... |
I think that's the charm of what this tournament is about. |
I think the only difference between Providence and maybe someone higher in the standings is [inexperience]. Most games in this league end up being very difficult. |
I think this is really a great opportunity for Ed. He clearly has the talent to play basketball at the professional level, but if anyone can make this transition, it is him. He knows he has our support and we will do anything we can to help him make this move successfully. |
I think to back away (from those goals) a day before would be fool hardy. You aren't going to achieve every one of your goals. (But) the goal we would like most to achieve takes place in April. |
I think we finally wore them down. They didn't have any more players to play. |
I think we had three top-10 teams and five teams in the top 20 that year ... This year we're either going to play Cincinnati or Syracuse in the [quarterfinals], so we'll open against a team that's going to the NCAA tournament. It was almost impossible to imagine this scenario a few years ago. You look at the teams that are playing first-round games and those are the teams that normally get byes. |
I think we showed up like a team that had glanced at our record and saw we had beaten Syracuse handily both times. My point is that in a tournament, no one really cares what seed you are or whether you beat someone before. It's the 40 minutes you're playing today that's important. |
I thought [he was] better [against St. John's]. He is not a physical player. If he moves up to the NBA, he's certainly got to learn to be more physical. |
I thought at first when he released it, it was going to be good, but it wasn't. |
I thought it was a good win for us. I don't think we played as well as we should have. ... Overall I think we did a decent job on defense, but the thing that is bothering me a little bit is we were inconsistent. |
I thought it was actually blocking below the knees. I would have probably thrown the yellow (flag) for that. |
