I can't worry about it because I have no control over it. The players that are going to be away, they know what they need to do. That part doesn't concern me. To me it's spring training time. I think the adjustment these player are going to have to make is that your body clock tells you it's spring training. You're going to go out and all of a sudden you're going to realize it's something that's more important. That's going to be interesting, just how each individual reacts to it. |
I certainly can't blame him for his decision. He was great here while he was here. Aside from the pitching aspect of it, he is a great human being. |
I considered bunting, ... I'm glad I didn't do it. |

I could have been persuaded to take him out, |
I didn't expect Ruben to get that close to that ball. |
I didn't know a lot about him. The only question we had coming in here was his command. Then again, when you think about pitching in Colorado, pitchers aren't as brave as they are where there's heavier air. You start trying to be picture-perfect and sometimes you pitch yourself into trouble. And I'm assuming that probably happens a lot there. |
I didn't know if we were going to get one or two. I felt they were able to at least knock it down, but both of them were off their feet. |
I didn't know what to expect going in. But nothing gets by these fans. Bernie didn't know whether to take a bow (in the eighth inning). He looked over at me and I gave him a nod. |
I didn't say we had to stop there, |
I didn't want guarantees, ... I just wanted to clear the air on everything that was part of my unhappiness, anger, frustration - I guess you can put all of those things under one heading. We talked about how we're going to go on from here. |
I don't apologize for taking seven Yankees. I think they all have numbers that make their choice appropriate. ... I'd like to be a little greedy here. |
I don't care who you are. I don't care how much success you've had. New York is different than any place you've ever been. |
I don't disagree with that. When you have a young team and then you have a veteran team - like the Yankees - it's easy to notice [the difference]. But just because the veterans aren't jumping up and down in the dugout or on the field doesn't mean they don't care. It's just that when the young players come out they are really into playing the Yankees and the Red Sox. They want to show they are worthy. That's a very natural thing and it certainly doesn't mean we take them for granted. |
I don't dislike Lou because people ask me about him hovering over there, ... If George wants Lou, or anybody else to manage, that's certainly his prerogative. The fact that he's available, it's never really bothered me. |
