We'll show up here [on Sunday]. I hate to think about jumping off ship after five games of the season. The sky doesn't fall with five games.

So much of baseball is about history and the records. The fans want the records to mean something. If somebody like Alex had the most home runs, there wouldn't be any questions.

When he comes, he's gonna come quick.

You can't pretend it's not there. You just have to deal with it. Then put it outside once the game begins.

The guys were a little goofy before the game, you know, just playing around. It was sort of just a playful determination that they had going out there.

You get to the point where you -- I don't want to say 'bottom out' so early in the season -- but you try, try, try. And today, they just stopped thinking and started reacting.

They don't beat your brains out. They just make it tough for you to get them out.

He's been a notoriously slow starter, but you can't let yourself get caught up in that. He's not, but that's been the history of the way he performs. He's working hard. Sometimes, he gets a little too cerebral at the plate and starts thinking too much. When that happens, everything seems to slow down.

I'm comfortable with the way he's swinging the bat. We might as well take advantage of it while we have three catchers. It would be a little tougher to do if we only had two.

He's getting a lot more comfortable throwing the ball. His range is what it is. He has quick, good hands, but I think the throwing part was something he didn't appear to have a lot of confidence. Now, he doesn't hesitate. He picks up a ground ball and throws to second.

His arm is getting the work it needs, but he really didn't get a whole lot of game work. It was a setback, and it will probably add a couple of weeks to his rehab.

My feeling is that once he starts, he'll come quickly. We'll let the people down there who are watching him make the determination of when he's ready for competition at this level.

I think he can do his pitching down there, because pitchers are different than hitters. Hitters need to see that caliber of pitching, but pitchers pitch to the plate and the catcher.

If we had tied it last night, I would have brought him in for the ninth inning, even though that's something I don't like to do. The need to get him in a game is important.
