[The team] really did surprise me. Losing our point guard from last year right before the season hurt us. I know they really wanted to win, but we really didn't have that much experience.

Hopefully we'll remember that loss to Shaw was just one game. Shaw came out and played like a team that had won three straight conference championships. We need to play aggressively like they did.

I don't know who was more nervous, me or the players. I was a little bit antsy before the game, and we played a really good first half -- not as good late in the second. But we needed to win a ball game, and we did that.

I think we did a good job sticking to the game plan we started with. The kids came out and played. We weren't really concentrating on 3-pointers. We wanted to go inside and get easy baskets.

I'm surprised. A lot of time you think about teams that have won championships getting these types of awards. Maybe they were impressed with our improvement.

I'm trying to remember what we did so well in that game, it was so long ago. I know we were doing a good job communicating. When you get this late in the season everybody is good. If they don't have a great record, then they know what it takes to win a tournament.

Lisa is a leader both on and off the court. She's like a big sister to a lot of the younger players.

She had already played Division I, and we needed another post player.

She has been a big part of our success, and I think the fact the team got better every year inspired her to keep coming back.

She was hard not to notice. I was just walking around and spotted her. I asked her if she had played basketball before and if she'd come out for the team. She said she'd think about it, and the next time I talked to her, she said she would come out.

Thank God, thank God! I didn't say anything to her but to go up and hit the free throws. Karla's a shooter.

They're a very strong team. They're disciplined, and Brown is a really good scorer. They're going to be very aggressive, just like Shaw.

They've got a lot of people who can score. And I always think we're the underdog. If we were to beat them on their court, it would mean a lot to our program.

We knew we wouldn't be at home, so we're happy to be nearby in Raleigh. It gives us a chance to get our fans there, and we're familiar with the court.

We'd been hitting our free throws all year. We just didn't do it today.
