I use [Yahoo!] for everything in my life, but I don?t pay them one dime. |
I wanted to be tested over the full championship distance and I felt fine in the later rounds. |
I was scheduled to go to Paris next week and I was really sweating it until yesterday when the conference was canceled. Yes, I'm in the business and I understand that the statistics are in your favor when you fly, but I'm just like everybody else -- I don't make decisions based on statistics. |
I'm following in the footsteps of some the best British fighters ever and I will emulate them by going on to win a world title, |
If United were to slip into Chapter 7 bankruptcy and go out of business, the loss of this competitor would surely push up prices. |
In general, business travelers plan travel at the last minute. In the aftermath of Sept. 11, many waiting are now waiting until the very, very last minute. There's uncertainty what our response will be militarily and concerns whether business partners will decide to make a trip. To put out there a 50 percent discount, but require a 21-day advance purchase, is totally pointless and misses the goal of getting business travelers back. |
In the next 18 months we are likely to see more change than in the last 10 years combined. If we go to war with Iraq, it will spike fuel prices, scare the living daylights out of the traveling public... and be the kiss of death for airlines. |
It is a definite concern at a time when we have virtually no new entrants in the pipeline. |
It is a risky strategy. |
It's a little early to see the impact now. Companies are now just beginning to form committees. But there is a tension in a lot of companies, ... Until the headline reads 'Human-to-human transmission,' there's no reason to trigger those changes in travel policy. But if that happens, we could end up with a lot fewer airlines globally. I think as we see images of airport quarantine rooms, people will get message that flying isn't a good idea. |

It's gratifying to see the board take these allegations seriously. It's just disheartening that it took so long. |
It's nothing but a lost opportunity as they drag this out and frustrate travelers, for some of whom this is a real burden, ... If this were some mundane issue, it's not a surprise this would drag on. But to fall on something that so touches the individual travelers is a serious mistake. Each of them go out and tells 10 people, and they all tell 10 people. It's very bad form and publicity. |
It's very bad right now, it's unsustainable. It's as bad as it gets. If [oil] goes up another couple dollars it's going to be more of a pain but it's going to be hardly distinguishable from the pain that the airlines are feeling right now. |
Over the past several weeks, companies have been getting nervous. Earlier they figured their competitors were also staying home, but now they're worried that competitors are putting a couple people back over there and they want to get back there soon. |
