Comments that an apology was not offered quick enough are dead wrong. I believed that those attending the March 8th meeting had taken my comment within context, in the spirit in which it was intended, which was a sarcastic reply made by a husband defending his wife. . . . The first outraged comments we heard came nine days later when we were attacked on the radio on Friday, March 17th. I offered an on air apology within 30 minutes of hearing how upset people were. |
If you looked at a major earthen dam being designed during the same time frame as the 17th Street Canal was being designed, there would have been boards of consultants and rigorous outside peer review that probably would have detected and caught many problems that are coming to light with the 17th Street project. |
It takes a lot of people to put on something like this, but we have 70 to 80 dedicated volunteers who are doing everything from assisting with parking to setting up and cleaning up. We are happy to do it because this is our gift to the community. |
