He has been instrumental in a lot of peoples? lives - coaching, teaching and being a friend. That?s what he?s always done in his 31 years. His players walk out the door, and they?re not gone. They?re always in contact with him, and he?s always in contact with them. |
I had a pretty good idea at the abilities of all of these guys at the beginning of the season. But, if there was one player who?s been a surprise, I would have to say that?s been Zach Brooks (senior). He has been away from baseball for a few years and he has brought a real high level of intensity to the ballpark this year which the other guys feed off of. |
I tell the guys all the time there are many pieces to the puzzle here. Our pitching is pretty good, and they will get better with more game experience. I think offensively we will get better through the course of the rest of the season and again, that is where the depth of our team comes into play. |
I think our starting pitching will do pretty well. Those two guys will be strong for us. |
In one line, Jack could tell you what he was feeling, and you knew without a shadow of doubt what you had to do. Get him in a locker room down by 10 points at halftime, and it?s a different bird. But even those times when he was upset, he was still coaching, still teaching. |
Thirty-one years. People don?t coach or teach in one place for 31 years. That?s going to be his legacy. The wins and losses, the championships, don?t mean as much as the time he?s spent here, reaching so many people. |
Who?s going to pitch in relief? That?s our biggest question right now. We?re auditioning. |
